New Delhi, the 22nd September 1994 REGULATIONS OF SYLLABI FOR POST-GRADUATE COURSE IN SIDDHA MEDICINE (SIDDHA MARUTHUVA PERARIGNAR) BRANCH III SIRAPPU MARUTHUVAM I. POST GRADUATE DEGREE COURSE: 3 YEARS: The following persons will be eligible for admission in the above course: 1. Persons who have passed BIM(Siddha) /BSM&S/BSMS Degree Course examination conducted by the Madras University /Madurai Kamraj University/ Dr. MGR Medical University or an examination accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto. 2. Persons who hold degree in Siddha Maruthuvam, the duration of which must be of at least four years and have undergone an internship at Hospital for not less than six months and conducted by the institutions as recognised by the State Government or the graduate of Siddha of Foreign Countries as recommended by the Govt. of India. II. DURATION OF THE COURSE: The duration of the course in each branch of study will be for three years. III. REGISTRATION: A candidate for the MD (Siddha) Degree shall register himself/herself with the University prior to the commencement of the course on the 1st of April or October paying the prescribed fee (According to the University rules). IV. ATTENDANCE: - 1. The student will be required to attend at least 80% of total lectures and practical in each subject before he/she will be allowed to appear for the examinations. The Syndicate may however consider special case on Merit. 2. The student will also be required to attend Hospital duty daily till the completion of the course, and during the third year he/she will be required to perform Houseman ship and a Tutorship without any additional remuneration as instructed by the Principal. IN THE APPLICATION FOR THE REGISTRATION OF DISSERTATION (i) Full title of the dissertation and methodology indicating familarty with the subject of the student and. (ii) The name of the department shall be specifically mentioned. The report of the examiners of the dissertation will be taken into consideration in the final assessment of the results of the candidates at the examinations. A candidate need not appear in the subsequent chances in subject or subjects if he has already passed and declared successful. If a candidate fails in one subject only, in the preliminary he shall be promoted to the next higher class but he shall have to pass in the subject before he is allowed to appear in the final Examination. A Candidate shall be declared to have passed if he/ she completely passed Part-1 and Part-11 the final year (IIIyear) PG Courses examination as per the conditions of the University. (c) Radio-isotopes and their role in medical research, Radiation and theirbiological effects. (d) Introduction of specific research instruments like chromatography spectrophotometer, calorimeter,Electrophosphorasis apparatus etc. (e) Application of statistical methods of Siddha research collection, compilation and tabulation of medical statistics, methods of presentation of data, calculation of mean, median and mode,measures of variability, standard deviation, standard error, normal calculation of mean, median and mode,measures of variability, standard deviation standard error, normal probability curve. (f) Concept of regression and correlation and their interpretation. (g) Tests of significance, t, x2 and F test and their simple applications. (h) Principal of medical experimentation on variation in experimental design. (i) Vital statistics. NOTE: There will be no examination in the subject of serial No. 5 but a certificate of having undergone training in the above subject should be produced before appearing for the final year examination.
